Our Philosophy
C & F Legal Ltd represents the new age in legal services.
Its principals, Rick Farr and Kathy Carr, were determined to bring to the market place a law firm that would provide for the needs of its clients without the shackles of the past. They have established their firm to meet their clients' needs for 2006 and beyond.
Their philosophy is based on the principle that the law provides both the necessary framework and the tools for commerce. It should not be considered as the ends, but the means. Rick has seen the legal profession go through its major changes. "The changes to the rules that govern our profession have enabled us to provide a value added service to our clients. We can look to the ultimate goal and map out the steps to achieve this. We can protect our clients with robust contracts and enforce those contracts where necessary. We see our role as providing the assistance to put our clients in control of their enterprise."
In the last 25 years, the legal profession has gone through a major metamorphosis with the abolition of scale charges and the touting rules to open and keen competition.
Rick says "The client is no longer the property of the lawyers, there are thousands of us, and the client has the widest possible choice…….
We pride ourselves in our integrity, which is synonymous with the notions of reasonableness……..
We look to understand our clients' enterprise and the part that we are to play in the support of those endeavours……..
Our logo incorporating the gears working together is to not only symbolise the wheels of commerce and law working together, but also to symbolise our team working together like the gears of a clock.…….
We are a team and no member of the team is more important than the other. Just because one gear looks bigger, it is no more important than the small jewel in the mechanism. It is supposed to symbolise all members of our team working together to achieve the result…….
We work by our motto -
'Geared to the result'
And we believe our clients have come to appreciate that and recognise our point of difference."
Kathy continually emphasises the fact that this is a team approach and in no small way the success of their service is through this strong team ethic.
Kathy says "We all take a keen interest in our clients. We want to understand their needs and ensure that we bring to them sound cost effective solutions……..
We are only as good as the people we work with……..
It is important that all of our team look forward to their work, we strive to make our work environment enjoyable for our team so that we all look forward to coming to work, after all it is where we spend most of our life". She recognises that "a happy team is a productive team and this is conducive to presenting a positive atmosphere every time our clients have contact with us……..
However, we take our job very seriously and our approach has to be intense to ensure the required results are achieved."
We are keen to see a transaction brought to a mutually beneficial conclusion but we take a no-nonsense approach in our dealings and we will not stand by and allow our clients to be disadvantaged by someone's unreasonable demands or lack of integrity. We will not hesitate to enforce our clients' rights through the Courts if we are faced with the necessity to do so.
The philosophies of our service are instilled in our team. Pauline Scott, with over 30 years experience in a law office, sums it up neatly for us when she says "I delight in smoothing the way for our clients through the sometimes harrowing passage of their transactions, taking the time to listen to their concerns and allaying their fears, at the same time as delivering to them a cost effective, efficient and friendly service".
